What is Rett's Syndrome?
Rett syndrome is a unique developmental disorder that is first recognized in infancy and seen almost always in girls, but can be rarely seen in boys. It causes problems in brain function that are responsible for cognitive, sensory, emotional, motor and autonomic function. These can include learning, speech, sensory sensations, mood, movement, breathing, cardiac function, and even chewing, swallowing, and digestion. First Annual Kansas Strollathon for Rett's Syndrome

It was an absolutely gorgeous morning - what a beautiful day for a stroll in the park! Turnout was good - I'd estimate there were more than 200 attending.
At 9 am registration began. DJ Clay Morgan from Radio Disney was there all day to provide PA and entertainment. Early on he got everyone loosened up with the Macarana.
Leon Brady from Kansas City Youth Jazz (www.kcyouthjazz.org) arrived with a drum line - which performed for the crowd while waiting for the Strollathon to begin. Leon has a young relative in LA with Rett Syndrome and spoke to the audience about it.
At 10 the strollathon commenced and that consisted of a liesurely mile walk. We walked around the lake path 3 times which equaled roughly a one mile walk.
After the walk, we enjoyed a dance performance featuring JoAnne Fluke from Groovabilty.
Finally, there was an exotic animal show by Scott from Exotic Animals R Us, where all of us kids got to see some cool critters.
The First Annual KC Strollathon was a lot of fun and created a lot of smiles ! That's a success!
Here are the young ladies that this fun gathering was all about:

There is a close button (X) in the upper left of the window OR just click anywhere outside the box to close it. This is a manual slideshow, so you have to use the arrows on the right or left to move forward or backwards. It's also a FULL SCREEN viewer, the fullscreen button is in the lower left.
If you have troubles with that setup, you can try this instead
