Besides adding special effects, old photos that have been
damaged can be restored. Scratches, tears, faded colors and etc. can be improved

1.This old Polaroid photo has so many scratches it almost looks
like a jigsaw puzzle. It is also faded from age.
Below is the same photo after some repair work. It is not a
miracle, but it is better than it was and Mom's precious photo has been saved
for the future.

All the work is done in the computer so the original is
returned as it was. The new photo will be printed on real photographic paper.
2. The photo below had
been stored for 30 years or so packed away with a letter. Besides being faded,
yellowed and
scratched a bit, the print from the letter has rubbed off into the photograph.

After 4 or 5 hours of work, I had brought it
back to look like this:

That's quite a bit better. It still looks
old and grainy but now it's cleaner and brighter. Look closely at the two - the
print from the letter is now gone and so are all the scratches and white spots
where the film surface had flaked off. Also note some small things - there was a
slight irregularity above the lip on the right side, that has been smoothed out
somewhat. The top of the blouse has been restored a bit and the blotchy yellow
spots are gone from the face too. If we had wanted to keep a sepia tone we could
have easily done that also.
Remember that all photos on the website have
been compressed and lowered in file size so they load more quickly. The actual
prints have much, much higher resolution.
This might be enough, but I went a step
further to see what it would look like if I worked on the background some more.

Again, it's not a miracle, but it has been
saved to pass down another generation and certainly is much better than it was
before.
3. Ever wanted to get someone out of the picture? That can be
done digitally, in most cases anyway. We are going to remove one of the girls in
this photo.

Now you see her...

Now you don't!
Note that the remaining person has moved a little more to the
center of the sofa. Also - the coffee cup on the ground is gone, the mailbox is
gone, the orange date imprint in bottom right corner is gone and the letter on
the door has changed from a D to a P.
